You parents are making a BIG mistake in not paying for you to take lessons. It’s what you need the most. Tell them that it’s worth the money and it’s not all about them; it’s about you.
But you can try youtube and cyberfret.com (click on Beginner Guitar Lessons under the section Learn Guitar), in the meantime.

Keep in Mind, You’ll get what You pay for. So Most likely You can’t find any good Guitar lessons for free just like You can’t get a bachelors degree for free. You see, Playing Guitar is a skill thats marketable.
Anyways, I suggest since its summer, cut someone’s grass or something and pay for a good Guitar lesson course from a good website like Elmores. Find Elmore’s Guitar Lessons at

Videos will never be as good as 1 on 1 lessons but there are some good podcasts on itunes for beginners.

Video is in, but I found the best teacher other than a live musician is a book.
I could read music before I started the guitar, but found that instruction books using tab and notation were both very good.
I got to go at my own pace. At first I tried to rush it, but soon learned that to be able to play each piece perfectly before moving on was actually the fastest way to learn.
I am not sure of your age, but you may be able to find a music store that gives lessons in trade for some work.

You can’t get too many great things for free but here are some decent materials, some might be too advanced for you but I’ll do my best to keep it basic: here are some beginner lessons here are lessons for suitable for any level
but i would recommend you purchase a book or a dvd for starting out so you have a good base because you will find even though the internet has some great FREE resources that they rarely follow a formula designed to help you advance as a muscian. Here is a really great book you’d find useful even with cheap parents I’m sure you can come up with the money for it some how. Hope this helped
