Please read the instructions which came with the television set. You may have to translate them from their “pigin American” into English first.
Freeview is the terrestrial digital transmission service. It may be referred to in your manual as DVB-T.
You need to set the television to “digital” (as distinct from analogue ). Then, from the set up menu, you should be able to get the set to scan for channels.
You will need a good UHF signal. If you don’t have a good signal you will notice that analogue pictures have “ghosts” or wavy lines and digital pictures may go blocky or disapear entirely.
If your reception is not good it means getting a High Gain aerial and making sure that it’s pointing properly at the tranmsitter. (£17-£25 typically).
You do not have to pay extra for a so-called “digital aerial”. All that label means is you’re being charged more than you would be for same thing in a box labelled “high gain”.
See for good aerial “guide prices”.
Have fun.
