I bought a house and in most of the rooms there is ralph lauren river rock paint. Other than it being streaky all over….we just don’t like the finish or the color.

We want to paint over it but we are concerned about the bumpy finish.
Do we need to prep it specially because of the river rock finish?
Will the finish diminish as we paint?

The texture will remain after painting.
I would find an area that is not visible…like behind the tv and use a light sand paper…then primer and the new paint. You can see how it comes out before moving on.
Primer is not required unless the color your painting over is really dark.
