Alex asked: My cousin from UK was going to get me ” Pikmin 2, New Play control! ” for the Nintendo Wii, but hes worried that a game from another country wouldn’t work on an american console. Does anybody know if a wii game from England will work on an North american wii console?

I live in the UK and someone I know has the North American version of “Super Smash Bros: Brawl” Before he inserts the disc he inserts another disc that he bought called a “Freeloader” I think.
Of course, this is to load North American games, not sure about vice versa.

The Wii is not region locked, but PAL and NTSC games cannot be used without a freeloader disc. UK and most of Europe is PAL and US and Japan are NTSC, so it depends where the game is from. if the game is NTSC you will need the freeloader disc to play it, but you will be able to play it.

The USA and Canada uses region 1 where England uses region 2 so no it won’t work.

the wii is region locked. you need to be in the same region code to play games on the wii. the game and console need to be the same region. europe is PAL, america is NTSC-u and japan is NTSC-J
